James is an experienced technology leader and former CTO at BenevolentAI, with over 20 years experience in AI, semantics, and cloud technologies for biopharma. With a PhD in Bioinformatics and Machine Learning, James combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of biology and health data. He has led biopharma teams from start-up inception and scaled these to over 100 people.

He leads Luvida’s mission to reduce clinical risk and accelerate discovery through intelligent data integration. He believes that true innovation happens when technology and biology are built side by side with those solving real-world problems.
